The universal appeal of creative Murals in Hotels, Pubs & Restaurants.

An original, thoughtful and expertly hand painted mural, always has the potential to leave a memorable and long-lasting impression with the viewer.  In a hotel, restaurant or pub for instance, where customers are usually looking for those considerate touches which might add to making their stay memorable, a beautiful mural can be one of those ‘conversation piece’ opportunities, which can give a new lease of life to sometimes unremarkable walls.  In a hotel for instance, the foyer, restaurant/dining room, bar, ballroom, meeting rooms, leisure, swimming/spa areas or bedrooms, all present opportunities to impress the guests.  It is a chance to create your own particular ambiance, which can reflect a stylish, homely and sophisticated environment, or whatever you require.

The planning of a mural (whether for business, club or home), can be approached in a variety of ways.  It can be painted in soft subtle hues, where it might gradually reveal itself to the guests, as they casually chat over their food or drink, or it can be vivid and exciting which is also suitable in most spaces, and where it would naturally enhance the existing decor. Local history, or words from a well-known song or poem for instance, could be the inspiration behind your mural image.  If you’re located by the sea, a marine image or local legend might be ideal.  Other themes based on movies, heritage, music, personalities, sport, equine, local landscape, old local photographs, or words of inspiration might all be starting points to get the creative juices flowing.  Whether illustrative or abstract, there is no limit to the amount of subject matter out there, and deciding on a themed mural that sets your establishment apart from the rest, is always an exciting element to the process.  When complete, the ‘unveiling’ of an impressive mural by a local celebrity for instance, can be a unique way to promote your business, and to connect with customers and the local community. This is not ‘off the shelf’ art, but a creative way to highlight and promote your establishment’s unique identity.

Commissioning a mural is a straightforward procedure.  Once you make the initial contact, I’ll visit to discuss and suggest ideas, in addition to your own thoughts.  I will then put some proposals and artwork together, which we review until the final draft is agreed. If the painting of the mural might cause disruption on site, it can be painted on large canvas in my workshop, and installed when completed with minimum fuss.  As no two murals are the same, price varies.  A simple silhouette for example, wouldn’t cost as much as a detailed mural depicting well-known personalities.  It’s usual to determine the budget early on, so that I can then prepare artwork to match.  A suitable starting date is then arranged. The process for commissioning smaller art canvases and paintings is the same.
