Shane MacGowan Mural (Signed Limited Edition Art Prints)
In September, I completed one of the most enjoyable projects that I've had the honour of ever being part of, which was a mural tribute to the late great Shane...
‘Fairytale Of New York’…..That crisp familiar piano intro, and Shane’s unique earthy voice… ” It was Christmas Eve babe, in the drunk tank…” This is OUR Irish Christmas song, and we are filled with pride when that classic introduction comes on the radio every December.
That’s what this Painting/Print is all about. I wanted to paint my tribute to this great song and Shane (& the late Kirsty MacColl). Some elements from the song that I’ve included are: A young Shane from 1987, the year of the song’s release (main portrait)..Kirsty and Shane performing at the piano as seen in the video…The NYPD band…Sinatra was swingin…Spider Stacy playing the tin whistle & accordian player James Fearnley reflected on the baubles… The bells ringing out..Alcohol on the piano and in Sinatra’s hand indirectly referring to the drinking backdrop to the song…
